Still going strong after 5 years

I bought the Greenworks Dethatcher in 2019 and have used it once a year on my 8,000 sq ft lawn. The first few years I would use it on the shallow setting, and have adjusted it to the deepest setting for the past 2 years. It has really made a difference in my lawn's heath, and I now have to rake up about half as much thatch compared to what was dethatched the first few years. After 5 years now, it's time to replace the tines. Love this dethatcher.

I just used it and it did a fantastic job. It did better than the landscaper I had used for several years. Very easy to put together and to use.

Very disappointed

I just bought this machine and was not happy with it. The tines dug into the ground and pulled up too much good grass. I was hoping the tines would not damage the ground Worst of all, customer service would not let me return it since the package had been opened.

Good product, easy shipping

Easy to put together, worked well and I’ve never dethatched my front yard.

Light duty dethatcher

It dethatches well. It would be better if it had a scarifier for that next level of lawn care. It does it "gently". It's not like a heavily powered gas dethatcher that can dig in to the lawn and leaves it looking scraggly.

The price was pretty good, too.

It is light weight, easy to use, and does a pretty good job of dethatching.

died after 1 use-replacement sent is missing parts

I bought this and after the first use the motor quit. Greenworks was great and sent a new unit out. The new unit was missing parts, one screw that I couldn't find at a hardware store. I waited on hold for over an hour, explained what I needed, received the replacement parts which were incorrect, they sent bolts. Now I will need to sit on hold for another hour to get the correct screws???

Great dethatcher for the price

For those interested in country of origin, this unit was made in CHINA. Looking for a realistically priced dethatcher to be able to do yearly work not being done very well by the pull along attachment to my lawn tractor. This does do a decent job. Instruction manual leaves out a few items: 1. How to install the cable clips. 2. Need to thread the cord retainer before attaching the Lower Handle. Love my new detacher!

This dethatcher works terrific on my zoysia grass, removing a huge amount of dead thatch without hurting the green grass at all. Just be sure to follow the instructions’ warning not to pull the detacher backwards while running, as that will create a bald spot. Other than that, works great and easy to operate.

does a great job of dethatching; gets up tons of dead grass-only con : I wish it is not cordless, but for the money; you can't go wrong and since this will usually be a once a year thing with me , I rate it very highly.

Decent Inexpensive Dethatcher

Simple assembly. Comes with a bag of spare tunes. Narrower width requires more time to cover ground. Dragging an extension cord is easier than you would have thought if you set up properly and start farthest away. If you start by mowing your lawn short without scalping, using setting II yields decent results. Initial use to dethatch about 15,000 sf worked fine. It's great. It does exactly what it's supposed to do and does it well. After years of mowing in mulch mode, the build-up was (notice I said 'was') impeding lawn growth. Now it's clear and my St Augustine has plenty of room to breathe. Using an extension cord for power is not as difficult as I thought it would be. In lower areas, I use Setting I, shallow. Works well but flap bolts fall off

Works very well to dethatch the lawn. I used it for three passes on the highest setting in the fall of 2022 after buying it online, on a lawn that had a lot of buildup. I did have two issues: 1) the black spacers for where the handles attach to the machine would not go in at all, they were too thick. The handles seem fine without them installed. 2) One of the bolts holding the back black flap on (pre-installed at the factory) fell off while using it, then I could not find it. I was able to f...
