Customers also faced challenges with obtaining replacement parts and the high cost of a new umbrella when the original failed prematurely.

Would Not RecommendThe quality of the handle cranking spool and shaft is absolute garbage. This is the precise part that cranks the umbrella up and down and under a lot of stress. The shaft of this part is junk. Appears to be cheap pot-metal. They all break. Mine just did and yours will too.
Cheap Material
Would Not RecommendI have a Garden Treasure umbrella and the wind broke the plastic handle. The company would not cover the replacement part as they said a tree must of hit it, even thou the closest tree is 100 yards away. The 2nd problem is this part continually falls out of the main support and I'm was constantly putting the part back together. I plan to sell this umbrella and buy a different brand.
Was good while it lasted
Would Not RecommendPaid over $400 for this item, had it for just over 3 years, and the crank handle just broke. Like so many others mentioned in the review, it is made of cast iron and is cheap and weak. We wound and unwound this umbrella no more than 25 times. The manufacturer - Garden Treasures - simply stated that they don’t have the part anymore wand can’t help much. This is a comLearned the lesson to not buy another expensive umbrella at Lowe’s.

Would Not RecommendPurchased in 2015 and I guess I’m lucky mine lasted til 2021! We just purchased a new canopy (that barely fit) 3 weeks ago for $150 and today the crank shaft broke off in my hands. This umbrella is deceiving- seems like high quality but clearly made cheaply inside... wish I had saved my money on the canopy. So sad...
Poor Quality and design
Would Not RecommendAfter two summers of relatively light use the crank shaft to open/close the canopy snapped in half. While searching for parts found that this a common problem on these umbrellas, thus the poor quality. poor design in that the replacement requires a whole new umbrella assembly (minus the base), for nearly full cost plus shipping. Customer support said sorry about that, and that nother site might have the part - Gardenwinds.com - they only sell canopies.
Poor customer servivey
Would Not RecommendBeware if you decide to buy this particular unit be prepared to throw your money away as they do NOT have a replacement canopy.
great umbrella until crank rod broke
Would Not RecommendThis umbrella worked great for a couple years and we really liked it. Then the crank rod broke in two. No way to get a replacement part. The rod was a weak casting in stead of a solid rod. I repaired it with JB weld by inserting a rod into the hollow broken casting. So far it is working.
Internal crank is weak!
Would Not RecommendAluminum rod inside the crank case is weak. It completely snapped after a couple of years of minimal use. Used it at most 10 times during the 2 year period. Called customer service and they wanted to sell me a whole new umbrella set for whereas the broke piece probably cost less than $20. Discovered a expoxy called JB Weld so trying to see if I can repair it (see pic). Hopefully, the manufacturer sees this and send me a replacement rod.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
Would Not RecommendCrank assembly is terrible and the shaft has broken. No replacement is available!
DON’T BUY
I spent well over $300 on this umbrella two summers ago. The crank shaft broke, which is obviously a manufacturer defect based on all the reviews. Customer service for Garden Treasures doesn’t even sell replacement parts for it anymore. Lowes was also completely unsympathetic about my wasting money on a worthless product. I see the same umbrella being sold now under a different company name for $600. It has the exact same issues. I’m disappointed that Lowes sells a knowingly defective product an...
Another Broken Crank Handle
Would Not RecommendWe bought this umbrella in the summer of 2017 and only used it a dozen or so times. A couple weeks ago I was opening the umbrella and the crank handle broke off when it was about halfway opened. I searched for a replacement handle only to find out there isn't one available at a reasonable cost and then saw all reviews where others had the same exact problem. I paid over $500 for this umbrella and a cheap crank handle made out of pot metal renders it useless. This is unacceptable and I will f...
expensive failure
Would Not RecommendWe had 2 good years on 2 of these umbrellas and then: fabrics disntegrated, crank handle just fell off (inside part just cracked apart), and some of the arms just broke off too. Given the price and lack of replacement parts, this and other Lowes branded products that have failed, has detered me from making such purchases in future. Sorry Lowes, i cant afford top-dollar prices for low-dollar products.

Lasted 2 years. Canopy rotted and handle broke.
Would Not RecommendI would not recommend this umbrella. It lasted about two years. Then the handle mechanism that tilts the canopy broke, so it no longer locks. The canopy itself has rotted to the point that the top (small) canopy cover is falling off. You also can't rotate the base, so positioning it is a pain. I've tried to find replacement canopies for this umbrella, but no luck. I will give it two stars b/c it was a good umbrella while it lasted. But for the money I'd expect more than two seasons use.

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM
Would Not RecommendDO NOT BUY THIS ITEM, THERE IS A REASON WHY LOWES DOES NOT HAVE THIS ON THEIR SHELVES! I've probably opened and closed this umbrella less than 20 times. The crank broke inside the crank case (like every single review of this umbrella). This product is junk. The umbrella used to be manufactured by "Garden Treasures", Shockingly, Garden Treasures does not make this umbrella or parts anymore but conveniently, "Royal Garden" does... but Royal Garden does not honor Garden Treasures product even thoug...

Broken crank handle
Would Not RecommendLooks great but the handle shaft is inadequate. Mine broke exactly the same as Mctaby. Could have attached an identical picture. The canopy should not out last the frame. Very disappointed.
As others have noted the crankshaft broke/crumbled and there is no replacement part. At least I got two years out of it Instead of one like some reviewers! Poor quality!

Crank shaft made of cheap alloy
Would Not Recommend2 years old and the tubular crank shaft (made of a cheap pliable alloy), broke inside the shaft making it unrepairable. Shame since the rest of the unit is made very well and looked brand new as I dismantled it for trash.

Inferior crank shaft
Would Not RecommendLike others that have reviewed this umbrella the crank broke after just 3 years of use.
We are sorry to hear that this umbrella did not live up to your expectations. We would appreciate it if you would contact our customer service direct...
Wish I'd had these reviews available when I bought
Would Not RecommendWe purchased this umbrella in April 2015 and just experienced the same problem at the same 3-year mark as the other 4 reviewers. The umbrella is very solidly built and has worked very well for us, but this it seems to be a "planned obsolescence" issue to use a crank shaft of cheap material with a 3-year life and that is not replaceable without buying nearly all of the umbrella again. We paid $300 for this umbrella (which I now regret) and would not even consider paying today's $600 price for s...
