Stealth Washer!

Purchased this washer almost 10 years ago to replace our 20 year old Kenmore and the first thing we noticed was how incredibly quiet it is! It is still very quietly and effectively cleaning our clothing after all this time and if we ever need to replace it we will not hesitate to buy another GE Direct Drive washing machine.

Faulty motor

We got house and were told this was a newer washer and dryer. Motor went out within a few weeks and GE seems more interest in new and part sales then standing behind there products. So disappoint I know and have work with many GE executive and seems the company has gone down hill.

VERY DISAPPOINTED

I PURCHASED A GE WASHER IN 02/2012. I STARTED BUYING GE APPLIANCES YEARS AGO AND HAD GOOD LUCK WITH THEM AND THEY ALL LASTED FOR 20+ YEARS. HOWEVER, THIS WASHER LASTED ALL OF 8 YEARS BEFORE THE MOTOR WENT OUT!!! I LIVE ALONE, SO, THE WASHER DIDN'T GET A LOT OF HARD USAGE. CONSEQUENTLY I HAD TO BUY A NEW WASHER, BUT YOU CAN BET IT WASN'T A GE WASHER! AS YOU CAN SEE BELOW, I ALSO BOUGHT OTHER GE APPLIANCES AND LUCKILY THEY ARE STILL FUNCTIONING. Good options

I have had this washer for 9 years, I got it because I could select water level and it had an agitator. It is now making a clicking noise like a bearing is going bad. Will continue to use it until it gets too loud then I will replace it with a bigger GE washer.

Never buying a GE appliance again. Junk.

Lightly used washer used part time by one person maybe once every 2 weeks or so. Doesn't clean white clothing well even with additional cleansers. Now the spin cycle sounds like it's self destructing. Always thought GE was a quality name. No more. This washer has been a major disappointment from day 1.

Built to NOT last

Main 6006RS drive shaft ball bearing is undersized for what it has to do: support spinning a drum of wet clothes 12" above the bearing at 700 RPM. Failure becomes noticeable after ~1000 loads, machine becomes unusable due to noise and vibration after 1,500 loads.

POOR QUALITY

This washer was poorly constructed. It does not have any balance sensors. It will shake out of control when the load is not balanced. My biggest complaint is a missing three dollar fuse that fried my motor. My agitator and spin cycle would not work. My first thought was the fuse. Problem is there was never a fuse inline. Completely fried my motor. Complete hunk of junk.

Spincycle sounds like a Boeing 747 taking off

Ours is 21 months old and when it is in the spin cycle it sounds like a space shuttle taking off! It is SO loud you can't hear a thing anywhere in the rest of the house, I've never heard of a washing machine like this before. WOW!

How to increase water levels manually

Will not buy a GE washing machine product again. On the other hand, the GE dryer that I had bought in 2001 is great and has worked so well till today without any issues and I am curious why GE could not do the same with this washing machine.

ONLY HAVE HAD IT FOR ONE YEAR-

ONLY BOUGHT THIS ONE YEAR AND 3 MONTHS AGO...AND ALREADY THE START MECHANISM IS FROZEN AND WON'T PUSH OUT OR IN OR TURN TO START ANYMORE.

A nightmare of a product!!!!

Have had this washer for a year. Very poor performance as it does not clean my clothes. I have to stop the spinning cycle before it ends because it wrinkles my clothes to the point of tear them with holes. It ruined two of my blankets as the agitators got them tangled and had to call a technician to fix the agitator. My clothes does not come cleaned at all and sometimes with stains from the fabric softener as it does not rinse well. I will get rid of it and get something better. Will not buy ano...

Worst Washer Ever

Excessive wear on clothing and leaves residue on clothes. You can only wash a small load at a time or it does NOT get your clothes clean. You can not change your mind on the load settings once the washer is started, if you do the washer drains and wastes water...so much for energy efficient. I have been a GE customer for decades but I will not be replacing this washer with a GE product.

This is a hunk of junk

Everytime we have a power outage, I can't use my washer for 3 - 4 days. I purchased this washer in feb 2011, this happened several times in 2012 and has started again this year. I have an extended warranty. Everytime the repair man is called out the machine starts working and when he leaves it stops again. It fills like normal but It always get stuck in the wash cycle. It's a splasher

I have only had GE appliances for 30 years and have always recommended GE appliances to friends. But I will not recommend GE splashers, because it doesn't wash it only splashes. Only fills half way by so called water savings design. Clothes don't get clean. Leaves either soap or softner streaks on clothes. You can only splash one blanket at a time. 3 or 4 towels or 3 pairs of jeans or 1 set of sheets is about all it can splash at a time. A regular load of clothes does not come out clean.

Not gentle on clothing

Don't Buy GE Products

Our machine is 15 months old. Didn't buy extended warranty at store. Thought GE was dependable so didn't need it. Repairman in today - told main board needs replacement. Also has detergent streaking even with minimal HE detergent. Water level never high enough. Loud noises. GE used to be dependable but no more. Stay away from GE appliances.

Worst cloths washer we ever owned

Purchased 3/21/12. We waited awhile to make sure we would comment well after many wash loads. In the order of what is worse; the washer doesn't clean cloths even after pre-treating and using the right HE detergent in the recommended amount. No matter what setting you use for water level (automatic or manual) there isn't enough water in the tub to wash cloths thoroughly. The cycle times are much longer than previous machines we owned. Washer will not spin dry

This washer is just over a year old and it is terrible. After 11 months of use, it stopped spinning/draining completely. I now must spin and drain 5-10 more times after it is washed in order for it to not be dripping wet. There are times that I take out most items and only spin a few items at a time. I finally had to replace my 20+ year old Maytag which was an incredible washing machine. I bought this GE and it has me frustrated beyond words. I'm stuck with it I guess - and THAT really has me upset. This thing absolutely DOES NOT CLEAN clothes. They don't even smell good when you take them out.
