Great tape but it has a shelf life

This seam tape is very easy to work with and does a great job on underlayment. I’ve used it in the past with good results. I had a new, unopened roll left over from a few years ago. I attempted to use the tape on a current flooring project. Apparently this tape has a shelf life. The adhesive does not stay attached to the tape if it’s 2 or 3 years old. I went back to Lowe’s and bought new tape. It worked perfectly.
