This thing was a great upgrade from my palm sander and booking it up to the shop vac to eliminate most of the dust was a plus.

Powerful but trigger sticks on

I cannot believe that no other person has mentioned this in their reviews, but I can't get this darn thing to stop once it started! It is incredibly powerful though difficult to control unless you are paying attention and have two hands firmly on it at all times. Something difficult to get it in tight spaces because it's so big and finesse is zero because it leaves scratches which is fine for jobs where you just wanna get rid of old paint or stain. If you turn it down, it's better for finenes...

I am pleased, but get ready for a mess!

It works as intended. Pretty economical buy. I am pleased with my purchase, it’s definitely a big step up from a palm sander. Honestly, compared to my palm sanders, I used less sanding discs but likely because I was just doing flat surfaces. I’m glad I bought it, it works, but the dust control is non-existent.

Great orbital sander buy once wont cry

I saw this in Lowes when my orbital sander needed replaced for a big deck project. Was going to get a tradition palm orbital but saw this on the shelf. They didn't have a display model in store but I had a impact drill that is more or less what this is just with an orbital head. Try not to wear out the disc they are expensive.

Best darn tool for sanding ruff lumber. Doesn't gouge out wood like a belt sander does. An twice as quick as a palm sander. I do a lot of whiskey barrels. Best tool

No Bag. Can't use tool (DWE6401DS) after purchase

No dust bag with unit, can't find one anywhere on line, or even a part number to reference. DeWalt needs to make it readily available. I'm very disappointed in the lack of planning on DeWalt's part.

Just what I needed

I needed a sander that was more aggressive than a random orbit but did not want to use a belt sander. This is perfect and it uses the same pads as the random orbit. Using it for refinishing a deck. I also like the dust shroud as I am also spot refinishing an oak floor.
