Just finished installing it

It took me and my son about 3 days to put it together. We made some mistakes along the way but were able to complete it. Had to get rid of the old 1980's power lift first. That was the easy part. I am going to buy another one for the other garage door that is as old. You definitely need another person to help install it. I will update this, if I things don't work out as they are now.

Great Basic Opener

I run a garage door company and we purchase this opener because it's cheaper than our wholesaler's and it's an overall better unit. A good, reliable opener without all the bells and whistles of the more expensive units. If you're looking for a great unit to open your door but don't want to fork out the $250 for the extra accessories, then this is the opener you need. Problems with HomeLINK

This garage door opener is fine. Cheap but fine. Set up easy; at least if you're at all handy. BEWARE it will not learn most cars 2012 and older. You will have to pay $30 - $60 more for a repeater which allows for older cars with older Home Link software to learn your new Chamberlain opener. This opener only comes with ONE remote. We get what we pay for.

Right out of the box, several things were wrong. Screws to mount the chain spreader were missing, the explanation that there were going to be extra parts wasn't clear (causing concern for why there were leftovers) and, once assembled it didn't function properly. I purchased this as a replacement for a 12 year old 1/3 HP Liftmaster 1245R. The replacement parts for the old unit were going to be around $100 plus shipping. Great Simple Opener

I wanted a simple garage door opener. I only have a one car garage so I didn't need the multiple remotes. Really nice opener. We were replacing a Chamberlin Garage door opener that had been in service several times a day for over 20 years. hope this one is as durable! We had to purchase another remote because the technology in the new opener does not use the rolling code and we got the Chamberlain Model G248730 that only had one remote. Easy install and works smooth and quiet

As long as you read through the directions before you start, installation is easy and straightforward. Even with the chain drive, the opener is quiet. Had one like this for 13 years and it died because it was hardly used (gears dried out and broke on the mechanisms). Replacing it with this one was cheaper than getting the old one repaired as the pricing hadn't changed much in the 13 years since. Recommend it!

Missing hardware

The assembly instruction is to use two 8-32 X 7/16 screws to attach the chain spreader. We could not find any of these screws in the hardware bag. And, in fact, the parts inventory listed at the front of the assembly instructions does not even list these screws. But, it gets worse. I purchased these screws at a local hardware store and they is not the correct size - too large. Nor is the next size smaller the correct size - too small. Chamberlain is the best!

I purchased the Chamberlain after my husband and I read the reviews. All sales persons were great. They helped me put it in my mustang. This was in September 2013 and I love it !!!!! My husband took our old one (different brand) down and replaced it with our Chamberlain in approximately less than 3 hours. Yes, we are senior citizens and that is how easy it was. Just some basic design issues

This machine is designed for a 7 foot door, and they tell you that. Fine, my door is 7 feet tall. What they don't tell you is that it does not have 7 feet of travel, so it won't open the door all the way. It only has 6' 5" of travel, with the down adjustment at the end of the travel and the safety bolt preventing the carriage from hitting the unit as the up stop. The solution? I removed the bolt, drilled another hole 6" closer to the head unit... and now I have almost 7' of travel. So the first...

Good opener for the price!

I installed this opener the same time I replaced my 9 x 7 overhead door. The instructions are pretty easy to follow and it works really well.

Great for a single car garage door...

Works great for a single car garage door - and operates quietly! Was a good replacement for the old opener that lasted about 18yrs - hope this one lasts that long. This one looks like the old HiftMaster it's replacing. Installation was easy, however instructions are pretty sad. Most newer cars(ours do) have an remote door opener buitin so one remote is fine for us. Good replacement for an old opener - works just like to old one.

JUNK

The 1st one I had was JUNK...it would go up fine but when you pushed the button to go down it would go down and automatically come back up. No matter what combination of the up/down pressure/travel I tried NOTHING worked. Lowes was GREAT about exchanging it for a new one. Guess what...the 2nd one did the same thing. I don't know what the more expensive models are like but this one is JUNK.

Very happy with my opener.

Thank you to Lowe's. All your employees are always so helpful and knowledgeable. Your subcontractor that installed my opener was so nice to work with also. I would have no hesitation in making any recommendations. I was hoping to be able to sync the opener to our other opener, which is also a Chamberlain, but wasn't able to.

great product

My last chamberlain lasted 15 years. Looking forward to the same kind of quality from this one. Only issue is the fact that my last remotes (bought just a couple of years ago) will not program to the new unit. Be sure to buy all the remotes you need up front. Hard wired sensors and openers from the old unit worked with the new one. As a replacement the installation was easy. Just drop the old one and put in the new one.

For the price, hard to beat

I've had this product now for 10 months and so far it has not given me any trouble at all. The installation was easy and the manual easy to understand. So far I would recommend this model for a low cost installation.
