After 4 months of (frequent) operation in a small office setting, the unit has functioned well EXCEPT that it has an appetite for double sided paper. The unit will jam one out of five print jobs, 20% of the time. For whatever reason, it pulls back the paper for the back page print and jams. I believe it has to do with the ink being wet and the paper folds or wrinkles during the uptake for the backside. Aggravating but still using it.

The MFC 6955 does everything we need as music teachers and professional orchestra and choral directors and players. We can easily scan.and sheets of all sizes .And two trays plus the feeder tray allows us to have letter, legal and ledger sizes instantly.

If anyone needs a printer that can reliably print up to 11x17" prints, this in our experience is the best, affordable printer on the market. We are very active in organizations and the wide list of features in this printer has been just what we needed. We had a predecessor in this series for many years and eventually wore it out. We have been pleased to own the updated model indeed.

Not happy!
The 6955 is billed as an improvement and advanced above the 6935. That is far from true. I rue the upgrade. My 6935 could and did scan more diverse sizes through the feeder, and had a much better scan quality.

Best of the affordable desktop 11x17 printers.
The J6955DW is the Swiss Army knife of affordable 11x17 printers, perfect for small businesses or home. I have been buying Brother 11x17 printers for well over a decade. I get at least 5 years out of them, and they haven't disappointed me yet. I am running about 4-5 of them at any given time, right now, 4 at work and 1 at home. I have never had a mechanical failure, what usually wears out is common to all desktop printers - the rubber rollers get too glossy and the feed jams. It would be nice if...

My latest Brother upgrade is great.
My third brother printer. They get better with each iteration. This one is a little heavy for installation. But it has tank and cartridge ink for a year. Unlike many of my tech products it was easy to install.
