Horrible design, made so it becomes trash shortly!

I'm not having any issues with the string and spool, but with the bearing and spool housings. How about making them out of metal, or, at the very least, of heat resistant plastic so they don't just melt after only a short time of use? The bearing housing obviously holds the bearings, or is supposed to, until it melts from the heat produced during use. At this point the bottom bearing comes loose, which in turn messes up the top bearing, and the whole trimmer is rendered useless! As for the spool...

Enduring Misery!

I've had this trimmer for more than a year. This is actually my second Black/Decker. The first one was fairly new when it just stopped working! I still have it thinking that maybe it will just start working again? Unfortunately, instead of trying to return it, I think because I did not have the receipt, I just bought this second model. It could be because I had faith in that brand. I don't see myself buying a third one from anyone yet since this last model is still working, However, don't buy it...

Weed trimmer worked one time the spool assembly came apart ate all the string tried buying replacement parts they're just as bad the new cap doesn't fit well the spools don't latch the interior piece that ratchets the string broke just a piece of junk stay away.

electric corded trimmer I love 7.5 amps

For me this string trimmer is perfect. I am just not strong enough to use a gas powered trimmer to put an edge on my corner lot with lot of sidewalk area to edge. The gas powered ones are to heavy for me to get a straight line. The Black an Decker brand was not even close to a brand I would be caught dead useing let alone buying but a freind loaned me his weed eater and it was the 7.5 amp curved shaft string trimmer that I used by BLACK DECKER I loved it but I had to buy a new head for it but...

Constantly needing to fix cable, cannot use.

Very frustrating. Cird is either cut or completely unwinds after a couple minutes of use. Thought I was doing something wrong but had a landscaper look at it with same results.

not worth the money, time and effort

I am on my second one. Did not learn the first time. Last about a season and a half with light usage. It feeds and cuts the cord quickly after minimal use. I spent more money on cord in one season than on the tool. Replaced the lever as suggested. This did not help. If anyone has suggestions I'm listening.

piece of crap

i could only use it the one time. And then could never work properly. the spring will not fit in assembly.

Great idea except for autospool

Auto spool rarely works. I usually end up manually feeding the line. The rest of the trimmer works as designed and is a five star product. The auto spool though. :(

B&D GH3000 - Line Eater

I bought this trimmer as a replacement for the combo pack 20V Cordless Battery Powered String Trimmer and Leaf Blower. The cordless trimmer is not powerful enough for my sidewalk/driveway trimming. The GH3000 is a HUGE disappointment. While its power (when it works properly) is very good, the line feed/spooling of string is awful (as many others have written). It doesn't matter if I respool the line myself, or buy B&D/OEM spools, the amount of line I go through is just amazing...and expensiv...

HATE the String, tolerate the trimmer.

Worst money I've spent on any B&D product, ever. Such a disappointment. Sting is very expensive, comes unwound/jams, and should you get it to dispense correctly, will use about 6 inches of string for every foot of edging/trimming. Buy something else.

money not well spent

the manual says replace with a factory spool when empty? If I had that much money I would hire a Lawn Service. Very poor instructions for adding string to spool , referring to very poor drawings. In the direction of the arrow, what arrow? why does the string unravel and get tangled so often? Has any thought been given to reducing the string unraveling?

unit is a piece of crap my father got me on black and decker back in the 70's i will never buy a thing from black and decker again had an old weed wacker from black and decker for years had it for 20 years no problems with it just got old bought a new one that has automatic feed does not feed line. Every 10 to 20 seconds have to pull unit apart to get line to weed wack grass garbage design will never buy a thing from them again garbage company not like they were years ago

Auto string feeder is terrible

The auto feeder for the string has never worked since Day 1. Not for trimming nor edging. I keep having to stop, open the string compartment and feed the string manually each. I followed the instructions and watched the videos to see if i was doing something wrong. I wasnt. Tried different spool. Same issue.

poorly designed

The pole extension handle on this trimmer is so short it is unusable. Perhaps B+D is focusing their product on a country whose population is genetically susceptible to Cushing's Syndrome.

Piece of junk

the automatic feed spool just stopped working..the string is not jamming, the spool will not spin and it uses way to much line and I have a small yard. I have only had this for a few months, it was given to me brand new in box because I had just bought a house.Just junk and I like B & D products but not this one. poorly made.

GH3000 string trimmer review

This is my first .80 string trimmer, I like the spool simplicity with one string. The string lasts better than the .065 double string trimmers. It may not be very good for edging concrete but is fine for trimming yard edges where the mower doesn't reach. Chain link fences break off the string pretty rapidly, but probably do that with any trimmer.. I have three residences where I use this trimmer, now I have worn the cutter blade enough I need to replace it.

Worst piece of lawn equipment I've ever owned.

Six - count 'em, six! - spools of cord (at $8.97 per) to do 300 linear feet of trimming. And, the spool cap is a piece of work, too: almost impossible to remove when it comes time to change the spool. Job that should have taken half an hour, took an hour and a half. Cheaper and less aggravating to have a pro come out every couple of weeks.
