The new filter seems to work fine, but we have pretty good water here already, so it is hard to tell how much of a difference it makes. I did appreciate also receiving the filter removal tool, however. Another thing I do appreciate about this filter is that if after filling the rear carafe with tap water, you forget to also put the empty front carafe in its proper place, it won't work. Without that I would have made a big mess in my bathroom.
