Good coverage, but thick and messy to work with

Used this Valspar Reserve semi-gloss on an interior project and have mixed feelings. On the plus side, the finish dries to a nice, durable semi-gloss sheen and the paint-and-primer combo does hold up well once it’s on the wall. That said, this paint is genuinely difficult to work with. It goes on very thick — almost too thick — which sounds like it would mean better coverage, but in practice it just creates a mess. So glad I went with Reserve

The painters tried a different brand in my hall closet, one that they apparently used quite often, & that’s when the real beauty of the Reserve came through. The difference was night & day. Needless to say I insisted on going back to Reserve. So glad I did.

The staff helped me pick the right color based on the other colors I used in my project. The staff listened to what i was looking for and helped me pick the right finish. The color went on great and is not bleeding like the last paint i used. The paint went on evenly and did not bead or drip on my textured wall paper. Not the Velspar quality I knew

I have always used Velspar spray and brush for all my poly needs with always 5 star results but would not give their semi gloss paint any such review. Purchase both a brown and a red and wont buy any more of this paint. Separates in can in 5 minutes and require constant stirring to keep from separating and coverage is poor at best, 4 coats to make a presentable look to the christmas items I am making. Separation while using and 4 coats!!!
