Is there a trick to getting the roller on the handle? Mine go halfway on and then something inside the roller stops the handle from going further.

That's the internal bearing, the mechanism that allows the roller to spin, that engages the frame. It does require a bit of force...a nice, strong push will get the frame to engage the bearing. You want a tight fit; otherwise, you can have the roller "walk" off the frame.
