Can starter shingles be nailed flush with the drip edge or should shingles overlap 1/4 to 3/4 inch to assure water flows into gutters?


The shingles should overhang the drip edge so the primary water-shed comes off the shingles. The drip edge then protects any gap between the fascia material and the shingle. We recommend following the shingle manufacturer's guidelines on overhang distance. Thanks, Union Corrugating Team
