What is the minimum 4 x 4 post height for installation


Hello, and thank you for your interest in Trex. For horizontal applications the post just needs to be high enough for the top bracket to penetrate into the 4x4 post. Since the rail kit height is 36" the top bracket will also be close to this. However for stair applications this is not something Trex can answer due to every stair slope differs. Most Lowes stores carry the Enhance 6' x 36" rail & baluster kit in-stock, also carried in-stock is the 48" Trex post sleeve which is designed to work for both horizontal and stair applications. Once customers determine how high their post needs to be on the stairs then the post can be cut to size. Thanks Tori - Trex Customer Care Team
