If I Purchase Door knob lock, can lowes rekey this lock to fit my key or do I need to take it to a locksmith?

Just went to a Lowes store to buy this lockset to replace my worn out one. Lowes employee told me they no longer re-key Schlage locks. Claimed I could order one from Lowes.com, but there is no option available to have a new one keyed to an existing key.

Was this Answer Helpful ?I purchased a couple of door knobs at my neighborhood Lowes and they keyed them for free, call your home center first to see if the person who does this is available before you go in so you don't waste your time, in my case, I had to wait till after 3pm...and yes, do bring your key.
