whats the different between roxul safe and sound and reg roxul

The real answer is, Safe and Sound is more dense where the ComfortBatt (insulation) is "fluffy". Sound is in the form of a wave and the more dense the material is the harder it is for the sound to penetrate because it will be dissipated through constant contact with the material but it is easier for heat to be lost because the material is in constant contact with itself the heat will transfer much easier. However the opposite is true for the ComfortBatt. This is less effective for containing sound because the air space in the "fluffy" ComfortBatt will not slow down the sound and might even amplify it. The opposite is true for heat loss. When the heated air reaches the tiny air gaps it gets trapped and will loss its heat rather then continue and get lost to the outside. Hope this is understandable.

If by reg Roxul you mean ComfortBatt, the differences are: Roxul SafenSound -- has better sound dampening properties, is designed for interior wall, ceiling and floor applications. Roxul ComfortBatt -- is specifically engineered for use in exterior walls, cathedral ceilings, attics, basement walls, exposed floors, and heated crawl spaces.
