my door knob does not want to close right and lock


Check to make sure your hinges are tight. Often the door is sagging as the hinges are not doing their job of holding the door square.

you didn't install it correctly. Take it off and try again.

You may simply have the latch installed facing in the wrong direction. The "slide" part of the latch should face the door frame and the flat side should be facing away from the door frame. However you may have to reposition the strike place. The latch may not be going into the hole of the strike plate when you close the door.
