I described it as passageway. You know it is non-locking.

With any "passage" lock, they do not have a locking mechanism. If you would like to have a locking door lock, you have 3 options. 1) Deadbolt 2) Keyed Entry 3) Bed and Bath. Techniclly you have a fourth option: Storage room. But those are usually commercial grade locks.
