Do passage doorknobs turn or are they "dummy" knobs?

Was this Answer Helpful ?Dummy knobs are one ONE side of the door only, they have no function other than pulling/pushing the door open/closed. A Passage knob is another name for Hall and Closet knob. They operate like your Privacy (Bed& Bath) or your Entry (Front Door) with the exception they have NO locking feature. In short, yes they turn, they will hold the door closed with use of a latch. The dummy has no latch it is JUST the knob and 2 screws to attach it to the face of the door.
Was this Answer Helpful ?passage lock sets are fully functioning knob sets. The only thing they don't do is lock the door from one side. They would not be good for a bedroom or bathroom if you wanted privacy. But rather would be good for a closet or other room that you don't need to lock.
