How do you install the post in the ground?

The most common method of installing a cedar mailbox post is to dig a hole (recommend a post hole digger) approximately 18" deep. If you live in an area with rocky or clay soil, concrete may not be necessary. If you live in an area that has a lot of sand or loose soil, it is recommended that you use concrete to secure the post. We also recommend that you treat your cedar post with a Thompson Water Seal with UV protectant so the post will retain the nice red coloring.
