What is the difference between this and the adding a grout maximizer to the bags of sanded and unsanded grout? Is this better?

Thank you for your inquiry regarding MAPEI Products! The Mapei Flexcolor CQ is a READY TO USE, already mixed in the bucket grout. It is made or recycled, color coated quartz crystal beads suspended in a water based, clear acrylic. The color is in the bead, which helps to prevent “pigment washout”. It does not need to be mixed in a bucket with water or Grout Maximizer and is extremely dense and water resistant. Flexcolor CQ can be sealed with a good quality water based, penetrating sealer for maximum stain resistance. Some helpful tips for a successful Flexcolor CQ application are below: • Use a hard rubber (epoxy) grout float • Use a white nylon scrub pad and sponge for your first haze wash • Work in small manageable areas of approximately 10-20 square feet • For horizontal applications only, you can lightly mist or wipe the surface of the tiles with a damp sponge, which will help to create a “hydroplaning” quality to the beads over the surface of the tiles. • When packing the joints, squeegee as much excess grout off the face of the tile as possible with the float. Remember, the color is in the bead and all the beads should be firmly packed in to the joints. • Consider “perimeter” packing the grout joint with the short side of the float using a forearm type motion as opposed to grouting in the traditional spread and pack application. This application method can be particularly useful when grouting large format tiles. • Let the grout sit in the joints for approximately 5-10 minutes before cleaning. • Change rinse water buckets very frequently and “dog bone” or wring out to almost dry, the clean-up sponge. If a slight film or residue appears on the surface of the tiles, within 24 hours you can use Windex with Ammonia, the ORIGINAL Formula, and a white scrub pad. This cleaning method will typically remove the acrylic haze or residue off the surface of your tiles. If a slight film or residue appears on the surface of the tiles, within 24 hours you can use Windex with Ammonia, the ORIGINAL Formula, and a white scrub pad. Flexcolor CQ can be used outdoors but must be protected from rain or frost for a minimum of 3 days. Flexcolor CQ can be exposed to light foot traffic after 24 hours, however it needs 3 full days cure before exposure to water or heavy traffic in order for the water to evaporate out of the system and reach final cure and maximum stain resistance. Flexcolor CQ cannot be used in steam showers, cannot be submerged and cannot be used with River Pebbles or River Stone Installations. It is not recommended for use with steam cleaning machines.
