This switch has white, black and red wires. I know what white and black are but what it the red wire for?

Hi There! The black wire is the HOT wire which brings power from the circuit box, the white wire is the NEUTRAL, and the red wire is the LOAD which brings power to the lamp or fan. Hope this helps!
