If the wall control is wired to AC power why do we need batteries in the wall control unit? Can we use non-battery options like Hunter 27182 instead?


Hello, the batteries power the wireless functions like speed control, individual on/off functions for the fan and light, dimming, and reversing if applicable. The wires power the on/off button on the bottom of the switch. The wall switch 27182 would not be compatible with this fan since this fan is specifically designed to be operated via a remote.
