Hi Terry! This trimmer uses .095-inch nylon cutting line, and you can reload the existing head without taking it apart. Before starting, turn the trimmer off and remove the battery. Then: 1. Remove any line remaining in the trimmer head. 2. Push and turn the spool cover until the LOAD slot aligns with the line-exit holes. 3. Feed up to 23 feet of line through one hole until it comes out the opposite side. 4. Pull the line through until an equal amount extends from each side. 5. Turn the spool cover clockwise to wind the line, leaving approximately 5 inches exposed on each side. Once the battery is reinstalled, you can extend additional line during use by gently bumping the trimmer head on a hard, flat surface.
