It depends on where you are installing and for what purpose. Here are the complete installation instructions for a lawn replacement. Remove existing grass and soil to allow approx. 3 inches of base; haul dirt and grass away. Cap irrigation system. Install bender boards as needed. Import base material- compact to 90%-level and sculpt or grade to allow proper water run off. -Class ii Road Base or similar. -2” - 3” recommended Install Synthetic Grass. -Edges cut long to allow edge tucking finish for more realistic look. -6” nails every 4” along edges and seams. -6” nails on 36” squares throughout center of turf – additional nails as needed. -Seams are secured with 6” Landscape Staples every 1.5” – 2”. --6” Nails are counter sunk every 4”-6”. Broom turf to bloom turf upright. Add Infill. Broom turf for final grooming.
