I found it rather easy to shorten. The blind itself has a cap on each end. You need to unroll the blind all the way, remove one of the end caps and slide the blind out. You need to cut the fabric to width and stitch it up. If you don't have a sewing machine you can most likely get the sewing done at your local dry cleaners. Next you cut the aluminum tube, smooth the cut edge, slide the fabric back in, attach the end cap and hang it up. Now that I've done one, not including the sewing, maybe 15 minutes. The bottom tube must also be shortened but that's as simple as removing the end cap, cutting and replace. Much better than paying for the "custom" length one. Just remember, measure twice or three times, cut once.
