I understand that you need to have the wood floor acclimate to its environment. My question is how long?

I opened the cases and let them sit for a couple of days. I did put tar paper down first but not as a vapor barrier but to reduce squeaks from the hardwood against the subfloor.

Store in a dry place, being sure to provide at least a four-inch air space under cartons which are stored upon "on-grade" concrete floors. Flooring should not be delivered until the building has been enclosed, with windows and doors in place and until cement work, plastering and other "wet" work is complete and dry. Was this Answer Helpful ?48 hours, open up the boxes and spread the flooring out to get the air around it. You'll be fine the longer you let it set but after about 5 days there will be no more change to the flooring.
