What function does the white plastic tube, stuck in the photo eye, do for the photocell operation?.


My best guess is it shields the photocell from oncoming light from the light bulb so the light doesn't turn itself off from its own light.

That is where you screw in the light bulb. The silvers base screws into the light socket.
