How can this filter last 60 months when others the same size only last 6 months?

I purchased this filter and I installed it on the rear of whirlpool side by side on May 7 2017 and on 10 October 2019 the filter was leaking form around the seam. Water constantly on floor tiles. After 2 Years it leaked surpose to be a 5 year filter bought at Lowe's

You will find out that lab testing to give it a 5 year "life" doesn't reflect what happens in the field ( your home). I know it's time to change my filter when it doesn't taste like pure water anymore and reverts to it's original taste, the ice starts to have a smell also. Neither of these changes are instant, and you just one day say " hey, the water doesn't taste as good". It might be 60 months, but I doubt most people will find it lasting that long.

This is based on maximum usage of 1500 gallons annually and was verified by internal laboratory testing. High particulate and sediment will cause a reduction of filter life. This filter is designed for chlorine reduction and not intended for use with microbiologically unsafe water.
