Do I eliminate the push in original type filter on my frigidaire side by side if I use this inline filter or does it stay in place?

Your refrigerator manufacturer may offer a bypass plug which will allow you to operate the refrigerator without its filter and simply feed it filtered water from the in-line filter instead.
