I have a by-pass with shut-offs made of ridged copper already. Do I still need to use the plastic by-pass that it comes with?

Was this Answer Helpful ?You can use anything you want, you do not need to use the plastic one that is enclosed with our system. You just want to make sure that it is plumbed with the water going IN the inlet side and OUT the outlet side. We know it sounds simple but we get a lot of do it yourselfers that accidently plumb it backwards. If you have any specific installation quesitons please feel free to contact our customer service department at 1-866-986-3223. Thank you!
Was this Answer Helpful ?Yes. The plastic shutoff is integrated into the connection to the softener. The water lines connect to the bypass valve with threaded 1" connections. The bypass valve connects to the softener with special O-rings and clips. The bypass valve is reasonably well made and connects to plastic parts inside the unit, so even if you could bypass the bypass valve, there wouldn't really be in value in doing so.
