I HAVE A HIGH PITCH METAL ROOF. CAN THIS STABILIZER BE ANGLED AND PLACED ON TOP OF THE HIGH PITCH ROOF?

It is not designed for that, they make a special item for hooking the top of the roof.

Don't see why not. Should add alot of stability to the ladder.

The AC78 Stabilizer is only designed to be used against a vertical structure. It has a fixed angle from the ladder to keep the ladder at the correct angle.

Hi Tony, I'm not sure by your question and comment if you're looking to "hook" the entire ladder over the top of the roof pitch (top of the roof) using the ladder stabilizer as the device that would hold the ladder in place or perhaps you were thinking once in place, you were thinking of using the rungs of the ladder for stability to stand on? Not sure that's what you were thinking of.. but typically these stabilizers are designed to hold a ladder away from the roof so many inches (I think this particular model is 10 inches). It also gives the ladder "side-to-side" stability as the stabilizer is very wide in comparison to the normal width of the ladder. I've used a stabilizer on my Werner ladder for several years now and it gives me the confidence to go up the ladder to the very top if needed. (I must confess, I'm a big chicken when it comes to getting off a ladder and on to the roof or back again.. and these stabilizers make the ladder 'rock solid' giving me a degree of confidence I need.) Hope I answered your question.. but perhaps if you're trying to clean out a chimney tube, best leave it to the professional 'chimney sweeps'.. besides, if the soot rubs off on you, it's good luck! Or so I'm told! {grin} Cheers, Richard
