What does HVLP mean?

HVLP stands for High Volume Low Pressure. HVLP sprayers atomize coatings by a high volume of air and low air pressure. A high volume of air is supplied from the turbine/motor, through the hose (if the sprayer has one) and is diverted into the container. The air pressure in the container causes the paint to flow up the suction tube into the gun where a large amount of low pressure air intersects with the paint stream to form atomization and the coating comes out the front of the spray gun.
