What type of battery is in the remote?

It uses an obscure 12V, V23GA (MS21/MN21) style battery, about the same diameter as a AA but a little shorter. It's not readily available locally, but can certainly be ordered online. Advise you to grab a couple to have on hand in case battery dies.
Was this Answer Helpful ?It's a 12v battery about half the length of an AA cell. Radio Shack replacement numbers are 23, 23M, VR22, and EL22. Any of them will work. It's easy to change. Available at Lowes for about $4 or Northern Tool at about 2 for $2. It's a common battery. ----------- Contrary to what others have said, the transmitter is just a battery operated remote control made to look like a light switch. It's NOT an actual light switch that has to be wired into on AC outlet. You could operate it from your car (or your pocket) if you wanted to.
