Are the compression fittings in this kit designed to attach directly to 3/4" unthreaded copper pipe?

Yes. The compression fittings fit over the end of unthreaded 3/4in copper pipe. Use two wrenches to tighten the fitting.

Was this Answer Helpful ?While that is what they are designed for, I say from experience, that it is much better to solder all non threaded fittings. When I did work in the field, i came across a lot of compression fittings that were leaking. Some showed signs that they had been dripping for years unnoticed.
