Yes, you can detach the AC plug and use it only under the 12v DC mode. Mine came with a wire I can unplug, but if yours don't, just cut the wires and nut them off to prevent shorts.

Was this Answer Helpful ?no, the ac cord is permanently attached. The dc cord can be removed [and lost perhaps]. I agree a bit cumbersome. I plan on having for emergencies -so not a big deal to me. but do agree would be nice if it could be removed when using frequently on 12 v for tailgating or camping etc.

Was this Answer Helpful ?NO - It is permanently attached (If you intend to only use it in the 12 Volt Mode, you could just cut off the AC Cord without any risk of any problems)
