Not advised to use with an extension cord?

I used a 50 foot extension most of the time. I don´t see any problem. Extension cord is just an extension. It will not affect a 10 watts light.

The 49 inch reference in the manual is nothing more than a typo entry. As this unit only draws about 10 Watts,it should operate "just fine" with a 50 foot 14 Gauge or 100 foot 12 Gauge Cord.

I use mine extensively on the end of a 25' extention cord without any incident.

There is no reason I can think of why this would be the case. This light draws almost no power (compared to standard halogen worklights). The recommendation to use 14 gauge or larger extension cords also makes no sense, again this light should be able to run off the smallest of extension cords. However, it says the light will only be dimmed if a cord too long is used, it doesn't say damaged. So feel free to try longer cords. I would test it myself but I removed my 120 V cord as I wanted a car-only light.

A longer cord, unless it is 10 gauge wire or thicker, will cause a power drop that can burn out the LEDs or the power inverter inside. It has it's own long, heavy cord. It has a 12 volt cord too.

Really Don't know why they would say don't use extension cord, cause I will be using it with extension cord that's properly sized for the distance where I don't have a large voltage drop, which is very important when using LED lighting.

That made no sense to me at all, either. I am running them on 50 foot 14-2 extension cords with no problem whatsoever. Not sure how they think you would get too much voltage drop to run a 10w device.

You can add an extension cord. I believe that label goes onto all lights made by this manufacturer. The draw is less than 1 amp.

Using a long low grade cord will limit the actual amount of voltage going to the light over long distances. However, I have used mine with a 14/2 100 foot extension cord without losing enough light to notice any difference.

This 10W LED work light should be suitable for use with an extension cord longer than 49 inches as long as the extension cord is rated for the load put on it. If the work light is the only item attached to the extension cord, then most UL Listed extension cords should be suitable at any reasonable length since this LED work light uses very little electric current.
