What's the point of a pool cover pump that doesn't work with GFCI? every modern house in the USA requires GFCI for outdoor use.


I had a similar experience and frustration. I cut the GFCI plug off the pump cord and replaced it with a regular grounded plug. Works much better.

I don't believe utilitech makes this pump. I believe it's Acquaer, who makes this pump.

While I understand your frustrations, as the manufacturer, we do not know if you have a GFI receipt or if your electrical is up to code. To make sure you are safe we decided to have the GFI built into the cord. Safety is our main concern and will always take priority over cost.
