can this timmer be used in a shed, where the temperture will go below freezing? A lot of timers like this are reated only to 32 degrees.

The Timer in my garage that is not heated, still operates as low as 10 degrees. 3 years old and going through 4 th winter. Garage can be damp, but is mostly dry with no heat.

Some timers have an internal motor with a physical mechanism that changes the switch. I had a different brand of timer installed once in the outside wall, and in the winter it wouldn't work well... it was battery-operated and the cold batteries couldn't get enough juice to make the cold mechanism work. This timer is what I replaced that one with and since it relies on 'house current' to run, and doesn't need batteries, it has worked OK.
