Where is the IR Receiver located on the unit?  Is it seperate unit or built into the power supply or light strand?

The RF "eye" is located on the receiver (part C) and according to installation instructions, receiver needs to be mounted so that it is "visible" to the remote. Instructions can be down loaded/printed from last item under "Product Specification" on Lowe's website.
