How do I make the blank LCD on the Outdoor Digital Timer display anything but blank?

I have the newer design, the one that looks oval, and have had it now for three years no incident, just bought what I thought was the newest design, and now am realizing it is an older model, and out of the box, will not even turn on or work, the circuit breaker is dysfunctional, and the red led on the top is lit, nothing displays on the LCD, going to return either for a refund or a new one.

sorry don't have an answer for you, but wanted to let you know that you are not alnoe. This is the second time I had bought one and both times lasted about 4 months and then did the same thing. They changed the model design and since then they seem to be garbage. On the lowes site, the new design is the one shown on the main picture. The old design is one of the alternate pictures you can choose to look at on the site. From your problems, I can bet you have the new design...Hope you get an ansew so I can get the question answered too. Thanks

Return them to the store. I got a bad one also. I think when they sit on the shelf for a long time, they get messed up.

I bought two and one of the LCD went out within a month and I have not been able to get it back. Both timers had trouble being programmed and only one worked in dusk-to-dawn mode for about two weeks. I now use them both in manual mode and the one timer still does not have the LCD working. From the other reviews I have read on this site and the company website, this is a common problem. If you still can return them, I would.
