Can Fire Bricks be drilled and bolted onto other materials such as metal?

Drilling these can easily be done, but it is at your own risk because they will likely crack, crumble, and fall apart ~>50% the time. Alternatively, they may be notched, with say a file. Then slid over pre-installed mounting hardware. Note¹: choose your fasteners carefully, ensure there's plenty of space around the fastener for heat expansion, and perhaps use a sleeve where it makes contact to the brick so it's not broken when tightened. Note²: if possible, use fasteners with similar temperature ratings as these bricks. Note³: fire bricks can be sourced from local fire departments(in my area anyway) for about a buck each. It is possible the bricks may crack due to the pressure of the drill.
