Was this Answer Helpful ?Boards get really hot in full sun on summer days - really hot! (my boards were light gray) I like to walk barefoot. On days like that, I would hose down the deck with cold water first. It helps for awhile. Watch out for your pets, too. Their paws can blister. I've had my Trex deck for 15 years. Very happy with it.

In the hot days of summer, any surface including Trex can get uncomfortably hot to walk on (this also includes concrete, wood decking, sand, etc.). In extensive studies we have found that lighter colored boards do tend to be slightly cooler than darker composite boards. With that said Trex always recommends wearing shoes on hot days.
