Will they die, if they don't go in. They stay all over the apple.

Instructions say to open it up, pour the liquid, place it near sink (or wherever you think the fruit flies are gathering/feeding the most), and then do not disturb the trap for 1 month. With mine, a few fruit flies got trapped inside the first day. Then we noticed a bunch of them would land on the outside and hover around the trap for many days. But if you lean down and look through the little clear part on the side near the bottom, you'll see many flies drowned in the liquid.

Was this Answer Helpful ?Fruit flies may initially land on the outside of the trap, however; over a few days, they will begin to work their way further into the trap where the liquid is located. When the flies land on the liquid, they will sink to the bottom, causing them to drown.
