Is this a real marble top or the cheap look a like stuff you see on many tables that sounds like plastic when you tap it?

This has a layer of real marble on top, this type is called is marble veneer. It is not a slab of marble stone. The "sounds like plastic when you tap it" is called Fauz Marble i.e. marble faked witha paint.
