These are not designed for garage doors.

It depends on how wide your gate, and what material you are attaching to the frames. One four foot wide frame can easily hold the weight of nine 5.5 inch by 5/8 inch thick pickets. These really are not designed to be garage doors though, just a simple gate for a privacy fence.
