What are the required clearances on sides and back of unit?


Hi TKB- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your consideration! Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. This model offers an optional Undercabinet Hanging Kit (JXA019K/ WX4-A019). Installation on Counter: 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. The front edge of the microwave (measured at door) should sit at least 3" or more back on the countertop or shelf to avoid accidental tipping. If located on the counter near a range, we recommend locating it at least 2 ft. away. Do not place near or above a heat source. Installation with Hanging Kit: Follow the installation instructions provided with the hanging kit. Installation requires a 12" deep cabinet. Allow 2" air clearance on each side of the microwave. Do not install against a wall or cabinet. No air clearance is required in the rear. If installed in a cabinet with the hanging kit, allow 2" on each side and at the bottom.
