It satisfies the NEC for a range circuit, but whether it can be used in Iowa is dependent on Iowa codes. Check with your local authority having jurisdiction on whether they allow the use of NM-B cable. 6-3 NM-B cable can be protected with a 50 amp or maximum of a 60 amp breaker. If you need a 40 amp circuit (even at 72 feet), I'd use 8-3 NM-B cable.
