Was this Answer Helpful ? In your application the red conductor is no needed and can be capped off at both ends. The best solution would be to buy 12-2 NM-B cable.
Was this Answer Helpful ?The Red wire is also for a hot feed, used when 2 feeds are necessary or a low amperage 220 line.
Was this Answer Helpful ?You don't need to do anything with the red wire. It sounds like you could have used 12-2 wire which would not have had the red wire at all. I would just leave it in the wire un-stripped. Tim (Not a real electrition just a DIY)
