Most electric ranges require a 40 amp circuit and for that you can use 8-3 NM-B cable. If your range needs a 50 amp circuit you can use 6-3 NM-B cable.

I WOULD CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL CODES, BUT 8-2 IS A MINIMUM WHERE I LIVE AND I SUGGEST 8-3. I NORMALLY USE 6-3 IF IT IS MORE THAN 100 FT FROM BREAKER BOX.
