21 years ago in 1996 the code changed to require 4-wire dryer circuits. Install a 4-wire dryer receptacle on the 10-3 NM-B cable and change the cord/plug on your dryer from 3-wire to 4-wire. ALL Lowes stores stock everything you need. Now, no extra wires.
